What City and State do you live in? Williamsburg, Virginia
How many newfoundlands do you currently live with? I don't currently live with one, although I have had a total of seven. Have fostered some too.
Do you have other breeds? Tell us about them? Not at this time.
Do you have other creatures? No
Are you an active breeder? No
What attracted you to the newfoundland breed? Have always liked large, shaggy dogs. What attracted me to the Newfoundland specifically was the temperament.
What areas of sport/competition interest you? (Conformation, Draft, Water Rescue, Therapy, Rally, Obedience, other)? Have not competed with a dog, but willing to help / steward at an event. Was formerly the official photographer for the CNC. Did the same for the SENC my first time around.
Do you handle your own dog? Never
Have you earned titles with your dog/s? Tell us about them? Not yet, although I have owned some rehomed Champions from breeders. My first dog was one of the Symingtons' retired show dogs.
Do you remember the first time you met a newfoundland? Yes, was walking my male Labrador and met one in someone's front yard. Was the only male dog I ever saw the male Lab tolerate on his first meeting. Fell in love with the breed then.
Do you allow your dogs on your bed or furniture? You better believe it!
Do you groom your own dog? No
How to often do you trim your dog's nails? Do you or someone else trim the nails and how do they do it? Usually have a professional groomer do that. Daily brushings are the extent of me grooming my Newfs. The plumbing in my 50 year old building won't stand up to the Newf hair from bathing one.
Tell us something cute or sweet that your newf does? My third Newf would hide living box turtles in its mouth on walks and sneak the turtle back to the car.
How has the newfoundland dog impacted your life? Do you have a fond memory that you would like to share? My home was bought specifically for a Newf in mind. It's completely level, has dark commercial carpeting (hair doesn't show!) My home also has only 1 step going out the back.
I mostly drive station wagons for the dogs. Current car excepted.
Tell us your biggest Newfoundland brag? As mentioned, my first Newf was a rehomed show dog. Was a beautiful dog that finished his Championship in only 6 months. He got a lot of attention at Newf events I went to with him.
