Helming Scholarship AwardThe Newfoundland Club of America Charitable Trust is pleased to announce a new scholarship award beginning in 2025. This will be in addition to the NCA Junior Scholarship, which is awarded to the NCA Junior fulfilling the requirements of the scholarship and completing an application. The David A. Helming Scholarship Award will be offered to The Best Junior Handler at the Newfoundland Club of America National Specialty Show in his memory. David served the NCA as President, AKC Delegate and Vice Chairman and was a founding member of the Newfoundland Club of America Charitable Trust. David was an AKC Licensed judge for Newfoundland dogs and Junior Showmanship. He was passionate in his belief that our juniors are the future of our sport and its success.
Name of Award: The David A. Helming Memorial Scholarship Award Award recipient: To the Best Junior Handler at the Newfoundland Club of America National Specialty Award amount: Determined annually based on donations with maximum Scholarship amount $5,000 Contact persons: Robin Seaman, [email protected] , Diane Broderick, [email protected] and the NCA Charitable Trust Award: Will be listed in the American Kennel Club Premium list along with the amount of the scholarship, dollar amount to be determined by the scholarship committee annually from funds held in the Newfoundland Club of America Charitable Trust. Donations may be made to the Newfoundland Club of America Charitable Trust c/o Mary L Price Treasurer and on the NCA Charitable Trust website, David A. Helming Memorial Scholarship Award. The Newfoundland Club of America Charitable Trust will hold the donated funds in escrow until the Award is presented to the recipient. The award will be paid directly to the institute of higher learning or school upon a receipt of attendance from the scholarship awardee. Donate to the David A. Helming Memorial Scholarship Fund Logo Contest WinnerCongratulations to Logo Contest winner, Melanie Tipton-Fortney. Expect to see our current adorable illustration on most of our correspondence but this new logo will be used for those times when limited colors are required. We love them both!

Attention Associate MembersAre you interested in elevating your membership? General members hold all rights and privileges and responsibilities of Associate members , as well as to have the right to vote on official club business, hold elected offices and appointed leadership positions.
Any person who has been an Associate Member for at least 6 months may apply for election to General Membership, providing they have attended at least one Club Meeting or function within the preceding 6 month period. A Junior Member, or Minor Family Member, upon passing their 18th birthday, may apply for election to General Membership, providing they have attended at least one Club Meeting or function within the 6 month period preceding their 18th birthday. Application shall be in the form of a written statement of intent to become a General Member and shall be submitted to the Membership Chair on or before the day of the next Club meeting. At that time their conversion from Associate to General Membership is to be part of the agenda for that meeting. The statement shall specify the time and places of attendance as an Associate Member at the required meeting or function. An affirmative vote of at least ¾ of the General Membership in attendance at the Club meeting at which it is presented is required to approve the conversion from Associate to General Membership. |

Joyce Boone served and Chaired many committees as well as the Vice President and President roles for more than one term. Joyce always had great ideas and followed through with them. Joyce and her husband Mike lived in Boone, NC for many years and then moved to Colorado about 7 years ago to be with their son. Joyce will be missed by many.
