His sire is "Fitz" Trinity Cove's Out of My League who was Best of Opposite Sex at last year's National and he definitely takes after his daddy! I love him to the moon and back!
Do you have other breeds? Tell us about them? We have an eight year old lurcher whose parents were bred by a Gypsy family in England. She's deaf, unfortunately, but awesome at hand signals. We have a five year old Shih Tzu and a seventeen years old Pommipoo.
Do you have other creatures? My husband, Tom LOL Just kidding! We have two cats too, both loaded with personality..
Are you an active breeder? No
What attracted you to the newfoundland breed? I have always loved big dogs and have had Alaskan Malamutes, Pyrs and a Pyr/Komondor cross. And I wanted a Newf my entire life!
What areas of sport/competition interest you? (Conformation, Draft, Water Rescue, Therapy, Rally, Obedience, other)? I would love to do water work and therapy
Do you handle your own dog? Always
Have you earned titles with your dog/s? Tell us about them? We've never shown but we're contemplating it now.
Do you remember the first time you met a newfoundland? The first Newf I ever saw was when I was maybe about nine. We lived in Alaska and we were at a ski resort and I remember seeing a HUGE black dog pulling a girl about my age with a sled. My first draft dog!
Do you allow your dogs on your bed or furniture? Yes, our Lurcher has her own chair and Teddy, the Shih Tzu sits in my chair. Mikey has just started jumping up on the bed. He likes to watch me doing whatever I'm doing.
Do you groom your own dog? No
How to often do you trim your dog's nails? Do you or someone else trim the nails and how do they do it? Our groomer trims his nails once a month
Tell us something cute or sweet that your newf does? He gives awesome hugs. He'll lay his head on your shoulder and wrap it around your neck and just hold you so tight. He also just stares at you so hard, and as someone said recently, it feels like he's looking into your soul. The two Nefws
How has the newfoundland dog impacted your life? Do you have a fond memory that you would like to share? I've had two Newfies. My first, Murphy, went to heaven in 2024. I've loved both of my boys more than any other dog I've had and I feel like they've loved me just as much .They're so sweet, loyal and loving. You can hug them as hard as you can and they just ask for more. They're so goofy and make you laugh all the time. And everyone else loves them too.
Tell us your biggest Newfoundland brag? I'm just an ordinary person. I'm not a trainer. In fact, I'm training challenged. My dogs haven't had any major accomplishments. I guess my biggest brag is that I've loved them with all my heart and made sure that they've had everything they need to have to be happy and live good long lives.
